Overview
ES Food & Agroforestry (ESFAF) is a multidisciplinary peer-reviewed international open access journal that publishes high-quality and cutting-edge original research and review articles in various disciplines encompassing the science, technology, and engineering of food, agriculture, and forestry. The journal provides a forum for rapid dissemination of significant, novel, high impact, and the latest findings of studies on all aspects of food, agriculture and forestry. The topics include, but are not limited to: food nutrition, quality, and safety; food and agricultural chemistry and engineering; emerging discoveries in both pre-harvest and post-harvest food and agricultural technologies; agricultural and environmental pollutions; smart agriculture and controlled environmental agriculture; innovative risk mitigation strategies in supply chain safety and security; sustainability and ecosystems; water, soil and irrigation; pollutions related to food, soil, and water; tree biodiversity and habitat protection of forestry. The journal also welcomes contributions on the scientific policy, social and economic aspects of food, agriculture and forestry.
With the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI), numerical simulation and analysis, deep learning, robotics, machine learning, etc., researchers can disclose and predict nature unprecedentedly in the field of food, agriculture and forestry. People will benefit from the reported engineered science results for their convenient, safe and reliable life. The ES Food & Agroforestry aims to serve as an integrated platform to ensure that groundbreaking discoveries in food, agriculture and forestry-related sciences and technologies reach the public, the shareholders, and the society.

Special Issues
The ES Food and Agroforestry does not have regular special issues. However, the experts, especially the authors from the journal, can organize papers with the same topic to form a virtual special issue. It normally contains 10 to 15 papers, which are published in the last three years. This special issue will be displayed in the special issue area (link). All interested experts should prepare a proposal on the specific topic and selected papers. After receiving the proposal for the virtual special issue, Editor-in-Chief and selected Associate and Executive Editors will evaluate the proposal. A decision is expected within three weeks from the date of submission.

Processing Time
Depending on the manuscript type and number of submissions, the average manuscript turnaround time (the average time from submission to initial decision) will be around 10 days and the submission to acceptance ranges from 6-7 weeks.
After acceptance, the citable just-accepted manuscript with doi will be online in one week and another 4-5 weeks to get the final corrected article online after getting the authors’ final proof. The print version will be available 2-3 weeks later after the online volume is issued.
There is no embargo period for the accepted manuscripts, and authors may place their articles in a repository of their choice immediately upon publication.
