As one of the oldest research topics, manufacturing can be dated back to the beginning of the industry practice and still remains as a vibrant research field nowadays. With continuous improvements over the years, manufacturing has recently attracted enormous public attention with advanced techniques like laser sintering,1 three- dimensional printing,2 electromagnetic wave processing,3 and electromagnetic interference shielding.4 New ideas can also be bioinspired, such as artificial spider silks and lithium batteries grown by virus.5
