Hierarchically porous Beta zeolites have been prepared by simple hydrothermal method utilizing corn stem pith powder as sacrificial template. Effect of the template’s quantity on the formation of hierarchal pores and their influence in catalytic activities were studied in the levulinic acid esterification. The catalytic performance, selectivity were significantly improved for beta zeolites with hierarchical pores (Corn BETA) when compared to conventional beta zeolite (Conv BETA). Esterification of levulinic acid is another method to make valuable levulinic acid esters, which are used as fuel additives, fragrance and flavouring agents. The hard template imparts a vital role in activity, surface area and total volume, which are very important for improved diffusion of organic molecules. Recyclability studies shows that even after three runs, the catalyst is stable.
