Abstract

ZnO is considered as to be effective photocatalyst compared to other semiconducting metal oxide. Here ZnO is synthesized using various proportions (0-5% wt.%) of Ag using refluxed chemical method. Structural properties were studied using X-Ray Diffraction, morphological properties were studied using Scanning Electron microscope and optical properties were studied using UV-visible spectroscopy. With the incorporation of appropriate amount of Ag nanoparticles, the photo degradation experiment was carried out under visible light. Dye degradation experiment shows that photocatalytic efficiency increases with increase in amount of Ag doping up to 5 wt%.
