Abstract

This paper highlights the production of oil using pyrolysis of rice straw and groundnut shell in a fixed bed pyrolyzer. The co pyrolysis of feed stock was performed at varying conditions of temperature, nitrogen flowrate and blending ratios of feed.  The operating parameters were optimized using Box Behken Design approach of response surface methodology. The co pyrolysis of rice straw and groundnut shell is conducted in a fixed bed pyrolyser. The basic fuel properties of oil were tested such as higher heating value, elemental composition, pH value, Conradson Carbon Residue (CCR), viscosity, flash, and fire point. The maximum oil yield of 41.1 wt.% was obtained at temperature 500°C, blending ratio of 5(RS):5(GS) and nitrogen flow rate of 100ml/min.
